See Ya Later, Hater
Looks like hate will have to find a new home...
Melanie Morgan — the conservative radio talk show host who chairs Move America Forward, the group which has led efforts to shame and boycott Berkeley for its anti-U.S. Marine Corps recruiting stand — has lost her job at KSFO 560 AM.Morgan, 51, delivered her final broadcast there today after 14 years at the microphone, she says in a news release. KSFO owner Citadel Broadcasting decided not to renew her contract as part of the company’s announced across-the-board financial cost cutting.
Media Matters reminds us of some of her trail of smears.
But grieve not, gentle readers, for I am sure her broom will land somewhere, sometime soon. As Media Matters reminds us, she will be off the air, but should not be off our radar.

Well, at least the hate-mongers will be experiencing the same financial squeeze and sinking assets that they've made the rest of us endure.
Conservative lalk radio is on a mission these days, to be...
In through the Out Door

Heavy voter turnout in Texas. The Dallas News reports that already, polling places are experiencing a “crush” of voters for today’s primary elections. The Texas Secretary of State office said that “early voters last week had already surpassed the total early-voting numbers for both the 1996 and 2000 elections,” and that interest is expected to continue today. GOP polling sites, however, “were not as busy.”

KSFO... one of the most popular radio stations in San Francisco.
San Francisco is full of neocons in its large banking industry.
All the more proof that California being the epicenter of blue-state liberalism is HOGWASH at best.
Ally, regarding your comment on the last thread, "It's the media."
In this case, it's not the media. Ron Paul barely got airtime. Besides, Bobbi is more likely found on myspace and facebook than on Fox or CNN.
Christy, regarding your comment on "I'm a Republican and against the war and he is..." Actually, Bobbi isn't a Republican. Maybe she was trying to be one to please someone. And that person was a Republican who was against the war...
Sparrow
It was about the whole neoliberal philosophy, and it's the media who sanitized it as "libertarian," and legitimized other people (Phil Gramm and Steve Forbes, among others) touting such neoliberal ideas as flat income tax and national sales tax, and the trickle-down economics.
Bobbi spent lots of time on MySpace and Facebook - it would've only reinforced her positive opinions about Ron Paul, as his greatest strength is Internet-based organizing.
You know what I mean Sparrow, I am, you are, so that must mean I KNOW you and how you will govern, even if I, in fact, know nothing else about you.
Most people can be fooled into that line of thinking.
BTW, check this out. I just finished a double portrait I have been working on for a long time now. It is picture perfect. I know it is because they are my children.

Off-topic but something to share...
From our sidebar and Yahoo! News:
CA Supreme Court hears on the constitutionality of the state's gay marriage ban.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080304/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage
I'm gonna say this again and again, but the state's worst xenophobe and its Latino community joined forces to ban gay marriages, through Proposition 22, in 2000. That was an ugly fight, and I have yet to completely forgive the Latino and other immigrant communities that backed the measure.
Christy,
Those girls are beautiful. And I love the dancewear...let me know if they ever want to come and dance with me!!
Haters are not new. I am seeing that as I explore the history of art here in the older part of the hemisphere where Spanish colonialists became so callous that they tested their swords by beheading children, treating them not so lowly as animals but as plants!
I call this THE FOUR EVILS: A PARABLE FOR OUR TIMES and I put it at http://www.silencedmajority.blogs.com but wanted to share it here. I saw this staggering portion of a mural today. I took this photo and I have it so that you should be able to click on it and see a larger version with more detail.
@@@@@@@@@
Still in Guadalajara - today I went into a UNESCO-protected building, the largest Colonial structure in Central America, & into the primary government building in Jalisco here. In both cases, i was looking for Orozko murals, some of which he completed once he became legally blind. They are beloved here for the truth they tell, so that people don't forget.
This panel was the most powerful, and at the top of the staircase I met an old man, who told me, "I am the voice of this mural. This mural is the story of my country. This panel shows how some countries of the world, such as your own, are repeating our story." He also told me that he is following our race closely and supports "Obama, a black man," who is "the voice of the people" whereas Hillary Clinton has "powerful friends." "I follow what is happening all over the world," he told me. "I looked last night and Obama was ahead for delegates."
So what does the mural represent? The fight against Communism, Capitalist Imperialism, Fascism and Religious Extremism!
Powerful picture, nmp! Thanks for posting it and sharing while you're away.
Christy, gorgeous kids. You make me feel like posting mine next.
Looks like Vermont is already being called for Obama and McCain.
Melanie Morgan is one of the scariest people that I have ever seen.

right now there is a "semi-viral" video at You Tube of two American soldiers in Iraq killing a puppy. Here is video in response to the explanations for the original video which very from - the puppy was already dead to, it was a stuffed animal fake.
WARNING: this video contains lots of disgusting and offensive stuff done by American soldiers in Iraq.
This photo really makes me cringe. It was chosen as one of the Age Editor's best 20 pics of the year. Oh how I hope this isn't your next president.

Spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan brushes the hair of Republican presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain as he flies between campaign stops in San Antonio and Houston. Photo: AP
At first I thought she was hunting for nits.
So the campaign goes on.
I'll say this much - if the Party attempts to swing the nomination away from Obama despite a lead in delegates/popular vote, they will be routed in November. Hillary will go down to one of the worst defeats in recent history. As it is, her negatives are set in stone, and more than deserved. McCain, after the failure of the NY Times story to make any sort of dent, will be seen as the real comeback kid. And if party shenanigans lead to her taking the nomination, many of us will simply not participate in November, or perhaps come back any time soon.
I don't love Obama's chances in November, but IMHO he's the only chance we have. If the GOP had nominated Huckabee or Rommey, it would have been different. But with McCain now the nominee, the last thing the Democrats should do is produce a "business as usual" candidate - and especially one with zero credibility vis-à-vis McCain on Iraq, and with as much ethical baggage as Billary brings to the table.
Stanley Fish's Monday column in The Times, arguing that Hillary's stance on Iraq would be stronger versus McCain, was one of the most transparent (and frankly, intellectually lame) pieces of political spin that I have ever encountered. The Times should be ashamed to have even printed it. But Times editorial has been in "full Clinton mobilization mode" as of late, going so far as to reject comments on their blogs too critical of Hillary - including my own.
Remember how the Ukrain broke into a revolution because their exit polls didn't match the vote tally?
Before 2000 do ANY OF YOU ever remember the exit polls being 'wrong'...? I can't remember a single time it happened before then.
And now, it happens in EVERY vote toss up.
Been throttling back, too much of a drain on my health, mental and physical. I know you've all been there.
So, I didn't even check in last night to see the returns... woke up, got outta bed, dragged a comb across my head, logged in, read the news today, oh boy, and then proceeded to throw up in my own mouth a little.
Words could not measure my level of disgust.
Happy Humped Day
I just can not shake this creepy feeling we are being duped.
WTF?
Oh, and just in case there was any doubt...
"Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said he does not “agree with [the] sentiment that there has been widespread corruption” in the Bush administration, suggesting he wouldn’t support independent investigations into the administration’s activities if elected. "
Why is that no surprise, since he has been part of the corruption and *cough cough* wrong doing.
That is such a nice word, isn't it though? "Wrong doing".
Yeah, that sounds much better than 'Hey A**HOLE! You just murdered a million innocent people for no other reason than to loot them!'
Disgust doesn't even begin to describe how I feel anymore.
BTW Sparrow, I still need your color choices.
In Fox interview, Clinton 'thanks' Rove
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Rove_participates_in_Clinton_Obama_interviews_0305.html
Wow Hillary. That is really, realy just soooo sweet and comforting..
Ok, not really.
I don't think there was a widespread voter suppression tactic last night.
It's really the Latinos, the "liberal" minority voting bloc that's anything but liberal. And the name Clinton carries a lot of weight with them.
There is no way in hell that Latinos will vote for a Muslim - which Obama is wrongly perceived to be. (I would NEVER vote for a Muslim either, but I know that Obama is not.)
Plus, I remember that the Latinos voted heavily for W in 2004, and that they are at the forefront of banning gay marriage and attempting to ban reproductive choice, at least in my state.
I hope this lays to rest any white liberal pipe dreams about Latinos being their automatic friends. They are NOT. They are a "swing group" at best, and must be fought for.
And of course, what I've said about the Latino voting bloc also applies to Asians.
But then, the average white liberal is more aware of "model minority" Asians' Republican tendencies - especially Indians, Koreans, and Vietnamese, and to a lesser degree, Chinese.
Asians are also a smaller bloc, though they cannot be ignored in some key states.

Kerry Requests FCC Investigation of Alabama Media Blackout of CBS’s 60 Minutes
WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Kerry sent a letter to Kevin Martin, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission today, asking him to investigate an Alabama television station that “blacked out” during a controversial segment of 60 Minutes. Allegations have been raised that the blackout, which the station blames on “technical difficulties”, was an example of censorship.
“The airwaves belong to the American people, and they have a right to know whether this blackout was the result of technical difficulties, or whether it was an act of censorship,” said Sen. John Kerry. “I think a full and thorough investigation by the FCC is owed to the public, especially those in Alabama who, for whatever reason, tuned in to watch 60 Minutes and didn't get a chance to evaluate the fairness of this story on their own that night.”
March 5, 2008
The Honorable Kevin J. Martin
Chairman
Federal Communications Commission
445 12th Street SW
Washington, DC 20554
Dear Chairman Martin:
According to recent press reports, on Sunday, February 24th, a segment of “60 Minutes” addressing the conviction of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman failed to air on WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Alabama. Instead of the regularly scheduled segment, viewers were subjected to several minutes of dead air. Following the completion of the segment, the station resumed its broadcast of “60 Minutes” without further incident.
Although the station reportedly blamed the black out on a technical malfunction, questions have been raised as to whether the nature of the content played a role.
I understand that you will be looking into the details of this incident, including the reason for the station’s failure to broadcast this segment. Upon the completion of your inquiry, I ask that you share your findings and conclusions with interested members of the congressional committees of jurisdiction, so that we will know that a complete inquiry has been conducted.
It is a fundamental responsibility of the Federal Communications Commission to ensure that broadcasters fulfill their duties as trustees of the public airwaves. As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, I will be monitoring this situation closely, and I look forward to the resolution of your inquiry.
Cc: The Honorable Michael J. Copps, FCC Commissioner
The Honorable Jonathan S. Adelstein, FCC Commissioner

DONDE ESTA GUILLERMO CLINTON? (http://www.silencedmajority.blogs.com)
So I'm still sitting here in the lobby of Hotel Morales in Guadalajara. Now at home I NEVER watch MSM (cable television news) but there I was last night, screaming at Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer and all the other "Talking Heads" that I heretofore didn't even want to know who they were.
& here comes doddering old McCain, stumbling around with confetti falling and some horrid adult-oriented rock song, then Botoxed-up Hillary acting as though it was the inauguration, then Obama with his beautiful wife all dressed in black and they looked like they could be headed for the Opera. Finally someone with some class.
& I could feel the pain in the blogosphere, since in every contest Obama won the under-65 crowd and Hillary won her "base" - certain working white people in certain parts of Ohio and certain immigrant social climbers in Texas and certain elderly fools who can't decide between her or McCain.
It made me think of 1968, and she may end up beinng our Humphrey, with McCain our Nixon. & when I woke up this morning I hadn't seen the final results but I was ready to never come back home from Mexico and I was also wondering where in the hell Bill was last night. Why didn't they bring him out? Would it have been too controversial?
I was never excited about this "power couple" to begin with, though I voted for them twice. It seemed a little better than Reagan, two terms of them, but can we please have someone not named Clinton or Bush now?
So today we went to Museum de Historio de Journalisme and I once again found some art that resonated. It seems in this place (Mexico) there is quite an ability to see the truth as it is. I saw a bunch of soccer trophies in the same building (Mexico has joined this world sport tradition long before the US got into it as a token player.) There was a quote on the wall which translated something like "Enough power and glory is a temporary distraction from the misery of life." Maybe it's this that the powermongers are addicted to.
I think I am in favor of nominating Daniel Ellsberg for the Nobel Peace Prize; Ann Wright as well...
BTW There was a mass resignation in the British Foreign Service office to protest the invasion of Iraq.
MARINES ARE NOW INVESTIGATING THE PUPPY-THROWING INCIDENT IN IRAQ ACCORDING TO CNN:
Ally, I am not saying there was widespread 'suppression'.
I was lamenting on the fact that it was once a foregone conclusion that the SCIENCE of exit polling could accurately predict every single race. 99.9% accurate.
And now.... WTF is all I'm sayin'.
Christy
I know... Exit polls can depend on which precincts and what time of day were exit-polled.
Unless that is taken into consideration, even exit polls are not 100% foolproof.
One more thing...
English proficiency is not a requirement for voting (though some degree of English proficiency is required for naturalizing, it's not enough). In fact, many Latino and Asian voters get their voting materials in their native languages - as mandated by federal law if a language is spoken by 5% or more of the local population.
I am pretty sure that Latinos and Asians are underrepresented in the exit polls for that reason - they are shy about participating, due to the limited English proficiency of many naturalized immigrants. And these are the voters that went heavily for Hillary.

Election Central has obtained a copy of a new anti-McCain ad sponsored by the group Campaign To Defend America:
The Campaign to Defend America -- which will be running ads on issues like Iraq, the economy, energy, and health care, from a bent that appears to be pro-Democratic -- is spending more than $1,000,000 on the buy, the group tells me.

WHAT IN THE SAM HELL IS THIS!!!???
"Chris Matthews talked with Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, Terry McAuliffe, on today’s Hardball about her victories in yesterday’s primaries and the future of the campaign. Matthews is from Pennsylvania and he’s all fired up about the upcoming primary in his home state — but I think he may have gone just a bit too far in his enthusiasm.
In this clip Matthews and McAuliffe discuss the issue of Senator Clinton’s tax returns and whether or not she will release them before the Pennsylvania primary next month and things suddenly take a strange turn:
Matthews: “I just want to do a town meeting in Pennsylvania at the college of Senator Clinton’s choice.”
McAuliffe: “We should do that.”
Matthews: “It would be great. Big university.”
McAuliffe: “I agree with you.”
Matthews: “I won’t name them now cause they’ll get mad at us if we don’t do them, but there are so many great schools in.. [snip] Don’t forget Scranton where Hillary Clinton spent all her summers. …Maybe the University of Scranton, a big Jesuit school.”
McAuliffe: “We should do that…”
Does that sound like Matthews is offering to campaign for Senator Clinton in Pennsylvania to you?

Ok I just vomited in my mouth a little.
Oh I am so sure it is a proud day for Hillarys' supporters all the way around.

EXPLOSION AT EMPTY MILITARY RECRUITING STATION IN NEW YORK CITY:
NEW YORK - A small bomb caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday, shaking guests in hotel rooms high above "the crossroads of the world."
The blast, which happened around 3:45 a.m., left a gaping hole in the front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and blackening its metal frame. No one was hurt. But Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the device, though unsophisticated, could have caused "injury and even death."
A witness saw a person on a bicycle wearing a backpack and a hood and acting suspiciously, but no one saw the device being placed in front of the recruiting center, authorities said at a news conference.
I think this blast was an inside right-wing job designed to get the public angry at the left, especially CodePink and the antiwar protesters.

Ok. I'm with monkey on this. It's just too dang hard to keep reading and knowing what is happening in this country and this world. Seems the more you know, the more angry and worried you get. It's not good for your health.
On the other hand...my former Bush supporting anti-Kerry (ex-Republican) brother now 'gets it' and even gets it about anti-corruption in govt, public financed campaigns, single payer health care, illegal spying...

Texas Delegate Tally: Obama 97, Clinton 91
Contrary to the TV news channels' projections on Tuesday night -- Clinton did not win Texas after all. Obama will instead emerge the winner in the Lone Star State, after partial results released on Wednesday pointed to the Illinois senator scoring a clear victory in its caucuses, 56 percent to 44 percent -- negating Clinton's narrower 51 percent to 48 percent edge in the precinct vote and giving him the majority of the state's delegates to the Democratic convention. Meanwhile, the campaign took an ugly turn on Wednesday when the liberal Web site DailyKos.com accused the Clinton campaign of again playing the "race card" against the African American senator by darkening Obama's skin tone in a new TV attack ad.

While we've been sleeping, California has been creeping
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 05:31 PM by thevoiceofreason
To Barack, that is.
Several weeks ago, someone posted a link about California's continuous recount.
http://calitics.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5133
A brief synopsis. This blogger noted that CA-53 had switched from 3/2 Clinton to 3/2 Obama. This change would put California at 204-166 Clinton.
Well folks, the creeping continues. As you know, California selects 129 delegates at large, based upon the respective percentages earned among those who reached the 15% threshold. Obviously, the only ones to reach the threshold were Barack and Hillary.
At the time the blogger above posted, the at-large (not superdelegate) split was 71-58 Hillary.
GUESS WHAT!?! The recount/continued count has added numbers to both. The current count (available at the California Sec. of State website) is 2,553,784 for Hillary and 2,126,600 for Barack. That translates into a 45.4364% vs. 54.5636% split, respectively. Multiply that by 129 and, SHAZAAM, Barack has 58.61 and Hillary has 70.39. In other words, it's now 70-59 between the 2. Barack has picked up 1, she has lost 1. A net pickup of 2!!
And why in the hell does the NYTimes still show Hillary with a 207-163 California advantage??? Worse yet, CNN doesn't account for them all, showing 204-161.
:)
More info on the alleged puppy-killer David Motari
It didn’t take long for internet sleuths to track down the perp. David Motari, the Marine accused of pitching a puppy off a cliff for the sheer psychopathic fun of it, is a member of the Bebo social network. Although the network requires registration to view member profiles, an enterprising researcher was able to login and screen capture Motari’s profile (click small image at left to see a larger image).
Motari is a Lance corporal, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, stationed at Haqlaniyah, Iraq, and based out of the Marine Corps Base at Kaneohe, Hawaii. He is from Seattle, Washington.
“Don’t have to follow nobodies (sic) footsteps,” writes the Marine on his Bebo profile. “I’m makin my own, fully grown, and this life is my own.” Motari tells us he is “happiest when… Chillin out, sleeping, playing sport, hittin the gym, hangin with friends, with my family, at home, fridays, eating, running, cruisin, and defintely (sic) when I get out of the marine corps!” He forgot to add he is especially happy when emulating Jeffrey Dahmer, who also shared a penchant for torturing and killing small defenseless animals.
“There is no way to know for sure if the puppy is real or not unless you are the one who produced it,” explains Charlie Powell, College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University.
However, after watching the video on YouTube, it certainly appears the puppy was alive prior to Motari’s sadistic stunt.
"Seems the more you know, the more angry and worried you get. It's not good for your health."
I have not slept at all in almost 4 days now. At some point soon I suspect I will resort to heavy pharmacuticals. It is more about Aline than politics, but politics is also part of her case, so out of the frying pan and into the fire. I feel like my skin is shattered.
But, as I read what you said, I started again thinking about Aline, and the people here, and, you know,.... what's the worst that can happen...?
No matter how angry or worried you get, it is justified, and the worst that can happen is happening now. In every place. Here, there, over there, everywhere.
You can turn off the TV and go rest, but quitting is not an option. Even if you never sleep again, we can not lose faith, hope, or strength.
Those are the only damn things that will stop this madness.

Times Sq. Bomb Letters Sent To Congress
CBS/AP) Authorities are investigating letters sent to Capitol Hill offices showing pictures of a Times Square military recruiting station that was bombed early Thursday morning, causing minor damage.
CBS News has learned that several members of Congress have received an identical 20-page letter, sent by U.S. mail, which contains a picture of the recruiting station. FBI and Capitol Police are examining the letters, but the contents apparently don’t contain threats.
The federal lawmakers' offices received letters containing a photo of the Times Square military recruiting office before it was bombed and including the claim "We Did It."
The manila envelopes contained a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station before it was bombed. The photo was the kind commonly sent as a holiday greeting card, according to a Democratic aide who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The message on the card read "Happy New Year, We Did It."
The envelope also contained what seemed to be a political manifesto railing against the Iraq war and a booklet. A second aide said similar letters arrived in as many as 10 offices.

Ummm. Wow.
I agree with you, Ally. The bomb was set off by some right winger. After all fear has worked in the past. Why wouldn't it again.
F.B.I. Investigates Missing G.O.P. Money
WASHINGTON — Hundreds of thousands of dollars are missing and presumed stolen from the chief fund-raising arm of House Republicans, according to party officials who described the findings of emergency internal audits.
The financial records of the group, the National Republican Congressional Committee, may also have been falsified for several years, Republican officials said.

Republicans stealing from republicans. Too funny.
Karma, and all that.
sparrow, great news about your brother.
Hillary, making a complete mess of things just as I friggin feared from the day she declared.
While the divisiveness that the Clintons represent was predictable, I didn't imagine she would tear her own party apart well in advance of the general election.

A joint subcommittee hearing was held on a proposed agreement between the United States and Iraq, outlined in the "Declaration of Principles" signed by President Bush and the Iraqi prime minister in November 2007. Witnesses from the administration testified about the details of the agreement which had been characterized as a “Status of Forces Agreement” (SOFA) that does not require consultation with Congress. Legal scholars testified about the role of Congress in approving international agreements and whether the proposed agreement was a SOFA or a defense treaty that would require congressional approval. This long-term bilateral agreement would replace the annual renewal of the current United Nations Security Council Mandate authorizing combat operations in Iraq.
Olbermann Rips Into Clinton For Praising McCain
Via AmericaBlog:
Tonight on his show, Keith Olbermann eviscerated Hillary Clinton for a good ten minutes for promoting John McCain's presidency over her fellow Democrats. He compared her to Joe Lieberman. He asked "is she equating her time in the East Wing with McCain's time in the Hanoi Hilton?" You have got to watch these videos. They're devastating in only the way that Keith can be.

National Journal says: McCain needs to target California to win. The key to success would be the Governator.

The Dems need to be very careful in California, otherwise they'll be backstabbed - by the immigrant communities and other "Democratic base" groups as they defect to McCain en masse.
True Cost of War -- Staggering Number of Wounded Vets: "The Pentagon keeps two sets of books."
Source: Editor&Publisher/AP
Published: March 07, 2008
NEW YORK The number of wounded soldiers has become a hallmark of the nearly 5-year-old Iraq war, pointing to both the use of roadside bombs as the extremists' weapon of choice and advances in battlefield medicine to save lives. About 15 soldiers are wounded for every fatality, compared with 2.6 per death in Vietnam and 2.8 in Korea. But with those saved soldiers comes a financial price — one veterans groups and others claim the government is unwilling to pay.
Those critics also say that the tens of thousands of soldiers wounded in Iraq are part of a political numbers game, one they say undermines the system meant to care for them. The most frequently cited figure is the 29,320 soldiers wounded in action in Iraq as of Thursday. But there have been 31,325 others treated for non-combat injuries and illness as of March 1.
"The Pentagon keeps two sets of books," said Linda Bilmes, a professor at Harvard and an expert on budgeting and public finance whose newly published book, The Three Trillion Dollar War, was co-authored with Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz. "It is important to understand the full number of casualties because the U.S. government is responsible for paying disability compensation and medical care for all our troops, regardless of how they were injured," Bilmes said.
Veterans Affairs predicts it will treat 330,000 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan in 2009 — a 14 percent increase over the 2008 estimate of 263,000 — at a cost of nearly $1.3 billion. For the 2009 budget, the White House requested $93.7 billion for the VA, including $41.2 billion for medical care for all veterans — not just those from Iraq and Afghanistan. That's an increase of $2.3 billion over the current budget.
But critics say that is not enough for a system that has a backlog of about 400,000 pending medical claims and complaints, especially in mental health care. The VA "will not request enough resources to care for the troops — and in fact this is precisely what has happened in the past three years," said Bilmes....

How CNN Could Up Its Ratings: Add a Sex Track
I have watched more cable news in the Hotel Morales here on Corona Street than I'd watch at home in a year. I do read gossip magazines when I'm bored, to see whether Britney, etc.react when they get dumped and how quicklly they lose their pregnancy weight and so on.
I've decided FOX is a propaganda network, and CNN is a gossip network. The press are the paparazzi, the politicians are the stars, and the panelists are agents, etc. It's prurient. "Do you think X's ATTACK will hurt Y?" It's all "when did you stop beating your wife" line of questioning, serving to help the Swift Boaters.
The couple in the room next to us keeps having sex with CNN on. They add something to the CNN soundtrack, with their rhythmic bed squeaking, squeals and periodic slapping. Terror scares and villians (Bin Laden, Saddam, Fidel etc.) are not enough. CNN could add some sexy audio verite as a background track, or sound "bed", if you will, and it would really help them compete against FOX.

10 Questions for Hillary Supporters
1. When did Sen. Clinton cross the Commander-in-Chief threshold?
2. Was it before or after October 11, 2002 when she flunked the biggest foreign policy test of her career and voted to authorize the war in Iraq?
3. How can a candidate claim to be ready on Day One when on Day 646 of her senate career she voted for a war without reading the 90-page National Intelligence Estimate that so convinced senate colleague Bob Graham the war was a mistake?
4. Are you okay with the Clinton campaign darkening Sen. Obama's complexion in its ads and would you be okay with it if that's what it took to win the nomination?
5. Do you think Sen. Clinton's failure to plan for a primary campaign beyond Feb. 5 -- best exemplified by the Iowa insult of Mississippi that she figured would never come back to haunt her -- demonstrates the foresight you want in a president?
6. Do you think Sen. Clinton's top-down, consultant-heavy campaign spending -- that necessitated her $5 million loan to the campaign -- is an indication that she'd be a good steward of the economy?
7. Are you okay with a Democratic candidate suggesting that the Republican nominee would make a better Commander in Chief than her Democratic rival?
8. Do you agree with Howard Wolfson's charge that asking a presidential candidate to release her tax returns is tantamount to Ken Starr's $40M fishing expedition?
9. Do you agree with Mark Penn's suggestion that some states are significant and some states are insignificant?
10. Are you looking forward to another I-was-for-the-war-before-I-was-against-it general election campaign?

Isn't it amazing that they print a picture of Obama with that comment, should be Hillary don't you think?
Hey Pelosi do your friking Job, and Impeach the freak who is residing in the White House and maybe just maybe you will retake the White House in 2008
You lose obama supporters, lady and you have lost the White House.
Pelosi tells Obama, Clinton to stop sniping
Pelosi said she believes that supporters of both Obama and Clinton, after a long and exciting race, have grown strongly attached to their candidate. She worries how those voters will react when - inevitably - one of the two candidates loses.
"So many new people are involved because of Barack Obama, and we don't want them to be disenchanted," Pelosi said. "On the other hand, there is a chance that he might not win, and hopefully he will keep them in the fold. I think it will be about his leadership, too - whether he wins or not - to keep them in the fold and to attract others."
She said the same is true if Clinton loses the fight for the nomination. Many of Clinton's supporters, especially women, are just as passionate about her candidacy, and those voters will be crucial in November, Pelosi said.

Security contractor Blackwater ends bid for Calif. training site
SAN DIEGO—Military security contractor Blackwater Worldwide has pulled its plans to build a training facility in a remote area about 45 miles east of San Diego.
Company project manager Brian Bonfiglio said in a letter submitted Friday to the San Diego County planning department that the site near the small community of Potrero no longer meets Blackwater's business needs.

Blue Dog Democrats May Give Bush Victory on Spying
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/030608R.shtml
Truthout's Matt Renner reports that "Democrats in the House of Representatives - teetering on the verge of compliance with the spy power demands of the Bush administration - have devised a plan that would give the president everything he has demanded, while keeping the majority of Democrats' fingerprints off the most controversial elements of the proposed legislation."
Kangaroo
Between the spineless Democratic Party, and the infighting between Hillary and Obama, I am preparing to stay home in November. Especially since my vote will most likely not count anyway, and McCain will score a rigged victory.
It's all the Democrats' fault for letting Republicans build such a huge rigging/voter identification apparatus unchecked, and for trying so hard to be Republicans Lite. Between the Lite and the Real Thing, the Real Thing will always win.
Tell me a story on the main thread...
Seattle Girl Shocked to See Self in Clinton 3 AM Ad
I saw this on the big screen in the Salt Lake City airport when I missed my plane.
One of the actors in the scary ad is a local girl (Bonney Lake, WA) who was shocked to see herself in the "red-phone ad" that possibly helped Hillary C win Ohio. Her name is Casey Knowles, she is the sleeping child, and it is an old stock photo taken eight years ago when she was a television extra. Casey first saw the ad on Jon Stewart's show and rewound it to make sure it was really her.
She is a fierce Obama supporter and will be voting age next month. According to our local King 5:
"It's really sort of ironic that my image would be used to advocate for Hillary when I myself do not," said Casey. It's perfect timing (that she can vote) because I have a candidate that I really identify with," she said. I've been campaigning for Barack Obama for a few months now. I was actually a precinct captain at the caucuses a few months ago. I attended his rally a few months ago and I'm a very, very avid supporter."
I think it would be really wonderful if me and Barack Obama could get together and make a nice counter ad.
The Obama campaign welcomed the endorsement. Casey indicates she would vote for Clinton if it came down if it came down to that.
the original offending ad
KING-5 broke the story but it got national attention as well, and Casey was on Good Morning America.
