RoadBlock Republican Revival Show
The RoadBlock Republicans have now become the RoadBlock Revival Revue.
This is the definition of irony--in action! The group who has filibustered the most bills ever are now refusing to leave the hallowed halls in Congress. And of course this irony follows the footsteps of this breaking news,

Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest quarterly profit ever by any U.S. corporation.
(More irony in action...)
In a mock performance, pretending to show they care about oil prices, the Republicans have started their 'anti-road show.'
According to the Washington Wire, the Republicans have enacted their staged protest using a combination of blogs, radio hosts, and media outlets.
Take a look....
At 11:23a.m. today, the U.S. House adjourned for a month-long recess, but on Capitol Hill, political theater knows no fixed time or season. A few dozen House Republicans refused to leave the House chamber Friday afternoon, doing their best Jimmy Stewart impression in protest of Democratic leaders declining to bring up legislation that would allow expanded oil drilling in the United States.Joined by a bevy of staff and summer interns, the Republican lawmakers donned mostly straight faces for an afternoon of speechifying without microphones, C-SPAN or their Democratic counterparts.
How many of you remember the Boston Tea Party?” Republican Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona asked the raucous crowd. “This is the Boston Tea Party!”
Texas Republican Rep. John Culberson and Michigan Republican Rep. Pete Hoekstra sent play-by-play dispatches about the pep rally via Twitter, an online messaging service. Indiana Republican Rep. Mike Pence, a former radio talk show host, called in to one of his brethren, Rush Limbaugh, to apprise nationwide listeners of the details. Another Texas Republican Rep. Kevin Brady came to the House floor with suitcase in hand, saying that he’d walked out of his scheduled flight home to join the rally.
House Minority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri said the group of members – comprised largely of the conservative wing of the Republican caucus — had themselves come up with the idea, with Georgia Republican Rep. Tom Price and Pence, taking the lead to stage the protest.
That's quite impressive for a group of people who could have stopped actual White House crimes if they had only dedicated as much energy towards protecting the common good not just their lobbyists common wealth.
According to the "breaking news" on msgop, the Republicans have initiated a protest after the vote to adjourn was cast, the mics were all turned off, and the Congress left for home.
In a hilariously entertaining style, these same Republicans who spent this whole last year preventing hundreds of legitimate votes from coming to the floor are now decrying the high oil prices and they are using this political theater to promote off-shore drilling. They've even, according to msgop, asked President Bush to "call Congress back into session."
According to the laughing journalists, these Republicans are outside right now busily inviting out of town guests to sit in and listen to their speeches in the Congressional Hall.
Of course, those fiery speeches and that dedication could be applauded if it was indeed real.
Unfortunately, this is nothing more than an election year Revival Show--trying to breathe life into a party who has allowed eight years of unfettered crimes against the people of the United States of America. It's from a party who refused to allow bills to increase the minimum wage to happen unless they could tie it into Paris-Hilton-tax-breaks. And if you check out the RoadBlock Republicans site, you will see the hundreds of ways the Republicans have caused harm by refusing to come to meetings, by refusing to allow votes to the floor, and by refusing to reveal who has a 'hidden stay" on numerous bills.
For now, the Republican Revival Show is planted in DC, because most of those Republicans are going home to their districts and are unable to explain their own cowardices of the last eight years.
So give the Republicans a hand and then invite them to perform for you and your neighbors at home in their own districts. Give them real questions by real people in a real theater. Let them take the stage then and explain why they refused to stop Wall Street's oil speculation. Ask them why they have allowed gross unfettered oil company profits and have risked our national security.
They may have the stage now, but the curtain is ready to fall.

Sexual Assault in the Military: A DoD Cover-Up?
There was quite a struggle in Congress this week. The Department of Defense refused to allow the senior civilian in charge of its Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office to testify in Thursday's hearing on sexual assault in the military.

McCain Forgets the Question - 3 camera angles
We have already had one President who lost his memory, another who had been a heavy user. We can not let this man near the button. As some comic said, he gets so excited he drools when he sees a clown's nose. This is truly pathetic - old, tired, no teleprompter. If, after three major debates with Obama, the race is still close and he somehow wins, the system is really rigged for sure and we really are a Banana Republic.
http://www.silencedmajority.blogs.com
We are a banana republic. We've lost 2 elections or more to fraud and harassment. We have a DOJ filled with corrupt politicos. People like Rove and Bush and Cheney are on a crime wave and yet there are no arrests.
My hope is criminat prosecution after they leave. If not...then I hope the world charges them. That will be more proof that we are a banana republic.
Even I am starting to believe that Mumbles McCrazy really is truly freaking crazy.
Everybody has their own crazy ways, but he seriously is starting to look MENTALLY ILL to me.
It is not even funny or satisfying. It is tragic and scary and utterly impossible to believe he is actually a candidate for the US Presidency.
Surreal.
Kathy Hilton :
I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.

Short, sweet, to the point.

Christy
Sorry I've been away for the past few days - very stressful situation for myself.
Glad to know that (1) you're back to DCP and (2) you are well now.
Hang in there - and I'll take a look at your email.
There is NO WAY in this country to find out what is really going on.
Everything is fake.
Christy
This one is for you. Think of a caption.
Haha Slugbug!
I don't have a caption off hand, but I do have a theory.
I don't think he is actually asleep. It is a trick.
Republicans, you see, are all about avoiding responsibility at all costs. Everything they do consists of one frame of mind. Screw up as much as possible so you will never have to take responsibility for any particular moment in time.
I think he is pretending to be asleep, because he knows when we all look back on it 100 years from now we will be asking, well, what were people like John McCain doing while the Worst President Ever was making a total ass of himself just a few yards away?
He was what? Oh he was SLEEPING! Ofcourse he was! He is so cute when he is snoring. Shhh, let the poor baby sleep.
Of course he could not be expected to stand up, not if he was ASLEEP!
So, I guess if I had to caption this video, I would call it 'Mumbles McCrazy Pretends to Sleep while georgie burned down the whole damn world".
Hard to put on a bumper sticker, but that is my theory.
Take your time Ally. No hurry on this end. I am not going anywhere any time soon.
But when I do, I plan on going REALLY REALLY FAR!
HAHA!
Notice Bush is saying, "In 2005 the people of Aphganistan defied the terrorists and elected a DEMOCRATIC legislature."
The next obvious line--unsaid of course--is that "In 2006, the people of America defied the terrorists and elected a DEMOCRATIC legislature."
"In 200_, The people of Brittain defied the terrorists (Bush and Blair) and elected a ..."
"In 200_, the people of Australia defied the terrorists..."
"In 2008, the people of America defied the terrorist and elected a Democratic Congress and the first black man for President."
Christy-
We have a saying for when animals are sleeping. It's referring to their dreams. The saying is, (sos and so "is Chasing bunnies"
So the caption for that moment could be:
"Chasing bunnies while the US falls"
or maybe
"Chasing bunnies instead of chasing truth, justice, and liberty for all"
more for that caption...

GOP Voting Registration Drops In Several Key States
By JENNIFER STEINHAUER
Published: August 5, 2008
Well before Senators Barack Obama and John McCain rose to the top of their parties, a partisan shift was under way at the local and state level. For more than three years starting in 2005, there has been a reduction in the number of voters who register with the Republican Party and a rise among voters who affiliate with Democrats and, almost as often, with no party at all.
While the implications of the changing landscape for Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain are far from clear, voting experts say the registration numbers may signal the beginning of a move away from Republicans that could affect local, state and national politics over several election cycles. Already, there has been a sharp reversal for Republicans in many statehouses and governors’ mansions.
In several states, including the traditional battlegrounds of Nevada and Iowa, Democrats have surprised their own party officials with significant gains in registration. In both of those states, there are now more registered Democrats than Republicans, a flip from 2004. No states have switched to the Republicans over the same period, according to data from 26 of the 29 states in which voters register by party. (Three of the states did not have complete data.)
In six states, including Iowa, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, the Democratic piece of the registration pie grew more than three percentage points, while the Republican share declined. In only three states — Kentucky, Louisiana and Oklahoma — did Republican registration rise while Democratic registration fell, but the Republican increase was less than a percentage point in Kentucky and Oklahoma. Louisiana was the only state to register a gain of more than one percentage point for Republicans as Democratic numbers declined.
Hey Christy girl what's happening in your state?
Louisiana was the only state to register a gain of more than one percentage point for Republicans as Democratic numbers declined.

Book says White House ordered forgery
Advertisements [?]Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 12:29 AM by RamboLiberal
Source: Politico
A new book by the author Ron Suskind claims that the White House ordered the CIA to forge a back-dated, handwritten letter from the head of Iraqi intelligence to Saddam Hussein.
Suskind writes in “The Way of the World,” to be published Tuesday, that the alleged forgery – adamantly denied by the White House – was designed to portray a false link between Hussein’s regime and al Qaeda as a justification for the Iraq war.
The author also claims that the Bush administration had information from a top Iraqi intelligence official “that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – intelligence they received in plenty of time to stop an invasion.”
The letter’s existence has been reported before, and it had been written about as if it were genuine. It was passed in Baghdad to a reporter for The (London) Sunday Telegraph who wrote about it on the front page of Dec. 14, 2003, under the headline, “Terrorist behind September 11 strike ‘was trained by Saddam.’”

Oh Karen, what a gorgeous house and environment. Yes - you will feel well there - how could you not?
"Louisiana was the only state to register a gain of more than one percentage point for Republicans as Democratic numbers declined."
'Hey Christy girl what's happening in your state?"
I have tried to tell you for years what they are doing. You know what they are doing. They are openly purging voters. Black voters. Democrats. All three of those states are purging.
Here is the thing though, black people are not as stupid as white people expect them to be.
And if the whites are ever called on it, all hell is going to break loose down here.
By the way, I would like to remind you all, anything south of the Mason Dixon calling itself a 'democrat' should not automatically be assumed to be a true democrat.
Yes, I realize that would include myself. But I am not the one purging voter rolls.
Christy
What about John Edwards? Are you including him in a "not true Democrat" mold? :)
He's from NC, ya know... :)
Want proof that South Korea's Christian community is a whole bunch of terrorist wannabes in full support of our W junta?
Look below.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080805/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_asia
And the same applies to Little Havana West, er... Koreatowns across US cities.
Seriously, in Seoul, the Republican-backed fascists have historically fattened the Protestants at the expense of the Catholics and the Buddhists.
South Korea is the only nation outside the US where the Christians celebrate AMERICAN Thanksgiving, and where Jesus and Mary must be drawn as white Americans.
Christy
The blacks can be made docile and obedient to the superior white race.
Just like the South Korean Christians.
Edwards is my man, but he also is spreading that around just a wee bit too much for me to care about party anymore.
Edwards need to step off and enjoy being ignored for a while.
I am saying it is no accident words like 'liberal' and democrat, and progressive were all turned into dirty words. The language was developed right here.
The vote rigging tactics you have seen spread across the USA in the last 8 years was birthed right here in the deep south. Everyone knows, it is not like I am saying anything that EVERYBODY does not already know.
The information control that is now spreading outward to muzzle even the info on both coasts began the spread right freaking here. The center of the filter is here.
There is a reason I do not involve myself in local politics here. I observe, I don't join. I know for a fact it would be like throwing dynomite on top of a powder store. And I have had enough of dirty cops covering up other peoples murders BY GOD they ain't throwing me off a bridge without everyone in the damn world knowing about it.
I am not afraid of their hired serial killers. However, there are enough of them out there I am done trying to track them. They know where I'll be.
Halliburton...? Lake Charles.
If you want to stop what is happening in this nation you are first going to have to cure the disease in the heart of it.
Until then it will infect the entire body politic.
This nation will never live up to it's creed unless you stop the political corruption of the southern states.
I pray Obama will and does understand it and makes it a priority. As a black man, if he does not, it will threaten to send his presidency into chaos every day he ignores it.
Ally, things change.
Blacks down here are living in a New South in every way except enviorment. Even if the Old South still clings around them, they are no longers your grandaddys negro.
They are a beautiful race. Fierce and proud. And very different than 2 generations ago.
It is a SERIOUS MISTAKE to believe they can be made to submit much longer.
Not physically, not politically, not for you, not for me, not for anyone. They simply ain't gonna take it anymore.
I think the New South is going to be so beautiful! But until the Old South falls, it can never rise again.
The entire country will be dragged down by it.
The vote rigging on a national scale will continue. And every time it happens the country we could be will get further and further away until it is no longer even possible.
You know it is kinda funny when you think about it.
Louisiana, with a very large black population, perhaps one of the highest percentage of blacks nationwide, unregistered blacks at that... And they are gaining no new democrats. Even with an Obama, the numbers...DECLINED?
HAHAHAHA!!!
I would ask how that is even possible, but we all already know the answer.
Hillary supporters thinking about voting for McBush--well read how McCain 'pimped out' his wife today.
What was all that "culture" thing they spoke about in 2004?
Looks like the culture of rape to me.
Sparrow
I agree. If you click on my name or http://www.silencedmajority.blogs.com Kayakbiker did a story on how the nuclear plant McCain went to was the site of a horrible nuclear problem once.
Then he has the Paris Hilton video where she wisely and cleverly took on the whole circus of Obama, Ludacris, McCain and the energy industry under the guise of being an airhead. I was quite impressed and am going to give her more credit in the future.
Finally, he put up the video you have of McCain "pimping" his wife, which is what I agree it is, even though I just got a nasty email from someone who thought it was undignified that I should say that. (which reminds me of people guilt tripping others about patriotism, etc etc after supporting policies which bring war death).
After the video, he posted a video of what the contest McCain referred to (jokingly, sure) as something his wife should enter. It is ultra-sleazy, and actually happened right after McCain spoke. He was preceded by a female mud wrestling event.
There are also some McCain jokes at Capital Hill Blue. I'm going after those next. This guy needs to be taken down more than a notch.
We just had a block party and I took a whole bunch of Obama stickers. It was incredible, with kids racing homemade go karts and the firetruck even showed up and let them all inside!
Bundler Collects From Unlikely Donors
A fundraiser for Sen. John McCain has gotten donations from some people uninterested in the election. (By Mary Altaffer -- Associated Press)
By Matthew Mosk
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, August 6, 2008; Page A01
The bundle of $2,300 and $4,600 checks that poured into Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign on March 12 came from an unlikely group of California donors: a mechanic from D&D Auto Repair in Whittier, the manager of Rite Aid Pharmacy No. 5727, the 30-something owners of the Twilight Hookah Lounge in Fullerton.
But the man who gathered checks from them is no stranger to McCain -- he shuttled the Republican on his private plane and held a fundraising event for the candidate at his house in Delray Beach, Fla.
Harry Sargeant III, a former naval officer and the owner of an oil-trading company that recently inked defense contracts potentially worth more than $1 billion, is the archetype of a modern presidential money man. The law forbids high-level supporters from writing huge checks, but with help from friends in the Middle East and the former chief of the CIA's bin Laden unit -- who now serves as a consultant to his company -- Sargeant has raised more than $100,000 for three presidential candidates from a collection of ordinary people, several of whom professed little interest in the outcome of the election.

There is one big ho and he is at Cheney's level, I think, and that is McCain. He is pimping HIMSELF - to the oil companies and foreign (middle east) as well. Check it out. You won't believe it!
slugbug,
There is a kos diary on that article too. The key point seems to be that there is no way at this time to know if that bundling was done with legal donations or with illegal donations.
Hump Day Greetings from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
My wife is teaching a class down here this week, so we tagged along for some extra family time.
The chimps are floating out in the ocean, I can see em perfectly from my 12th floor perch... the water is like glass today, just the crash of light, gentle rolling waves providing a great sound canvas here in the condo to paint music over with the iPod.
Sending a good groove out to all ...
Bad. Really really bad.

Roo, thanks for the link to the CACI v Rhodes. I'm still perusing through it, but I know that it's been a long time to finally happen.
slugbug, the more I see that video of McCain pimping his wife, the more I am disgusted at it. Of course the funny thing is out of all those people only half a dozen or less McCain signs are seen in the pictures.
Hi Peeps,
Our own demeanor during this critical hour in history about says it all. It speaks volumes.
Hope you are each well, as we keep on keeping on. Look for that sandpiper every day, and you will see it.
Everything so quiet it is almost surreal. Hope this isn't the calm before the storm.
Chins up, and enjoy each day.
No, we're just choosing not to take the Republican bait and engage in the drama about the Clintons vis a vis the convention. It's an awkward transition but it will work out fine in the end. Best to let it pass and kind of congeal into something we can get behind. That's got to be the best way to go.
